After RIF, DISD Job Site Shows Teaching Jobs Available

A week after the RIFs occurred, DISD's employment website shows over 50 positions available for teachers.

The site also lists a dozen non-teaching school-level administrative positions, along with more jobs in other categories.

This leads to an obvious question: was the RIF process truly efficient?

jobs available!!!!!!

There are jobs available. AC Interns have been called back to work. They were RIF'd and now re-signed paperwork to be reinstated. I ran into a girl that told me she was called at home to return to work after being RIF'd. She is not even certified, and there are hundreds of teachers certified that have not been called.

The HIRING FREEZE has been lifted. Principals can hire from outside the district. There needs to be a firing of all board members for allowing this haphazard process.

Teachers got no information on what their rights were if they appealed the decision, and were told all kinds of various stories; "You have already gotten your last paycheck," is what I was told. "You will not be paid while you appeal, you have to clock in downtown everyday," and lots of other erroneous information.

I gave up on the appeal and signed the forms to the settlement agreement, even though I felt I was wrongly laid off, and told misinformation to coerce me into signing. Alliance, and no one else have been there to answer the questions of the teachers that are trying to appeal.

Some teachers were forced to sign the settlement agreement inside their principals' office on the day they were laid off. They were not given time to decide or anything. THIS IS WRONG THE WAY WE HAVE BEEN TREATED.

I hope someone will be there for the teachers out there that are really being hurt by this process.
moving on for the better

sounds like the way they treat parents with special needs kids

movin... I really feel your pain. I know how they treat me when they lie and act like my child with autism has no potential and right to take up their precious resources that need to go to the staff parties and perks for the big gun administration that are UNWILLING TO SERVICE him appropriately. Even though it would be less cost to do the right thing, the administration refuses to act out of good character, regardless.

Hope things work out for you! Good Luck, from a sincere parent who has to fight because we cannot move at this point in time, although that is the best option, it is not possible.

hire-fire-hire? which one??

makes no sense!
